LEWIS MCCARTY IS KILLED ON MONDAY
Lewis McCarty, 60, of Corydon, and father of four Lucas county residents, was accidentally electrocuted Monday. The gas pipe of a pump he and his brother, Holly, were raising from a well struck a high tension line above them.
He was the father of Mrs. Verle Elder, Mrs. Neva Mason, Mrs. Leona Anderson and Leo and Harold McCarty of Chariton.
Authorities said a hole in one of McCarty's rubber-soled boots probably allowed the current to pass through him. The brother, who was also touching the pipe, was unhurt.
The accident occurred on the Hugh DeBolt farm 3 miles south of Allerton. Lewis McCarty was helping his brother in a well cleaning business.
