Beverly Elaine (Zariske) Gilardi Smith

Beverly Elaine Smith died peacefully at her home in Sparks on October 30, 2012.

Beverly was born on March 6, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Peter Paul Zariske and Henriette Louise Bremer. She completed the family, joining brother Gerald and sister Jeannette.

She attended Saginaw High School, graduating in 1947. Soon after, she joined Jeannette and brother in law Fred on a trip west. Reno was supposed to be a stopping point on their way to California, but they fell in love with the area and decided to stay. Bev spent the rest of her life in Sparks.

She was a legal secretary, working for attorneys including Richard Edelman and David Sinai before she was hired by James J. Halley. She spent the rest of her career with Mr. Halley, first at the firm of Halley and Halley, and later at the firm of Woodburn, Wedge, Blakey and Jeppson. She worked into her 70s before retiring, and was well respected in the legal community.

She was the wife of Everett R. Smith and mother of Gary Gilardi, Mary, June and Sharon. She survives her Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Everett R Smith and first husband Frank Gilardi.

Internment will be at Masonic Memorial Gardens in Reno. The family will hold a private remembrance gathering at Bev's home on November 10.
