She departed this life on Oct. 31, 2012, at her residence.
Ann Nell graduated from Compact High School in Kings Mountain on May 8, 1951. She continued her education at St. Paul College in Laurenceville, Virginia where she earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Education. She later attended Winston-Salem State University for certification in Elementary Education.
Ann Nell had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1993 where she served as a member of the Golden Age Club and the Missionary Circle.
She was married to the late Bennie Gill on June 1, 1958, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Nevada B. Dye, Juanita B. Childers Neely, Alberta B. Hunter, Genester B. Jackson; brothers, Samuel M. Brown Jr. and Andrew W. Brown Sr.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Gastonia.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
