Born March 5, 1922 in Rutland to Carl F. and Marie (Uphoff) May, she married Emmett M. French on June 4, 1948 in Minonk. He died October 20, 1994 in Peoria. Also preceding her in death are her parents and one brother.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane (Matt) McCoy and Denise (Mike) Lutz, both of Green Valley; four grandchildren, William (Amie) Johnson, Jr. of Grand Junction, CO, Brandi (Kirk) Edwards of Eureka, Andrew (Janelle) Lutz of Morton, Shawn Lutz of Pekin and six great-grandchildren, Emmett, Cassie, Kammie, Emmie, Greysen and Samuel.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin and a member of the Pekin Garden Club.

A homemaker, Eleanor enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Miller Center. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, especially Mark Grace and Ryne Sandberg.

A private graveside service will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Pastor Judy Doyle will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
