Donald M. Lavin, of Plains Township, died Sunday in Hospice Community Care Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Plains Township, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Gildea Lavin.

He graduated from the former Plains Memorial High School.

He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He was formerly employed by Wilkes-Barre Lace Mill and Schall Construction Co., Plains Township. He last worked for Mack Plumbing Supply Co., Wilkes-Barre.

He was a member of the Plains Township Democratic Organization where he served as the 6th Ward's committeeman since 1972. He also was honored by Joseph E. Conlon Post 558, Plains Memorial American Legion, for his 50-year membership. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains.

Surviving are sisters Mrs. Helen Walsh, of Plains, several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Military Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Plains.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
