Mrs. Catherine Heafey Dies; Widow of Mortuary Founder

Mrs. Catherine Heafey, 73, a life-long resident of Nebraska, died Monday afternoon at her home, 4034 South Twenty-fifth street, after a short illness.

She was the widow of Morgan J. Heafey, one of the founders of the Heafey & Heafey mortuary here.

Mrs. Heafey was born near Jackson, Neb., the daughter of John Finnerty, an early settler in northeastern Nebraska, and taught school in that section before coming to Omaha 55 years ago.

Survivors: Three sons, John C., Morgan J. and Cornelius P., all connected with the mortuary concern; two daughters, Miss Mary Heafey, a teacher at Franklin grade school, and Mrs. E. E. McMahon; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Clinton, all of Omaha.

Services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from the Heafey & Heafey South Side funeral home to St. Bridget's church at 9:30. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. A rosary recitation will be held at the mortuary tonight at 8.
