Frank J. Zach Jr., son of Frank J. Sr. and Maud A. Nutsch Zach, was born northwest of Morrowville on June 6, 1915, and died at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, May 17, 2003 at the age of 87 years, 11 month and 11 days.

He attended school at Pursley and graduated from Haddam High School in 1933. On February 14, 1938, he married Viola Hubka at Beatrice, and to this union four children were born.

The couple farmed near Narka from 1938 to 1953. Then they sold their farm and moved to Fort Collins, CO, where he was employed as a maintenance electrician for the Ideal Cement Plant at LaPorte, CO. Later he worked at various projects, missile sites in Colorado and Wyoming. His last 10 years before retirement, he worked at Colorado State University.

He was president of the Poudre Valley Antique Club, and a charter member of the Good Sam Club of Fort Collins, CO. He moved to Loveland, CO in 1975, and in the spring of 1984 he and Viola moved to Belleville, and then to Munden. She died June 26, 1985. On April 8, 1987 he married Rosie Wendling of Chester.

He was a member of the St. George's Catholic Church, ZCBJ Lodge, Republic County Czech Club, and an over 50 year member of the WFLA Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Viola, and infant daughter Nancy Ruth on November 10, 1947, a brother, Lawrence; a stepson, Neil Wendling; a stepdaughter, Gayleen Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie of Munden; three sons: Larry, Howard Sr., and Dennis; a stepdaughter, Barbara Burdick; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Blecha, Belleville; a brother, Harvey Zach of Munden.

Funeral services were held at St. George's Catholic Church, Munden, conducted by Father Ralph Aschenbrenner. Interment was in National Cenetery, rural Narka.
