Felkert Grussing, living east of town, is seriously ill with heart and lung
trouble. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, February 19, 1908)

Felkert Grussing of Armstrong died Monday, May 17 after a lingering illness of
Tuberculosis Peritonitis. Mr. Grussing was a student. He loved the study of
astronomy and could point out the celestial bodies and give their names and
movements. He was a good [man] loyal to his family and friends. Funeral services
were held at the home Wed. at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. A.E. Slosson after
which the remains were taken to his former home, Ashkum, Ill., for interment.

Felkert Grussing was born March 28, 1872 near Champaign, Ill., and died May 17,
1909, aged thirty-seven years, one month and 19 days. On the 12th of March 1896
he was married to Maie Belle Tascher. To this union two children were born,
DeWitt and Livonia [Edith Lavonia].

Besides his immediate family, he leaves to mourn their loss, an aged mother [?],
three brothers and seven sisters.

In the summer of 1898 Mr. and Mrs. Grussing came to Iowa, buying a farm in Swea
township, Kossuth county where they resided until this spring when they moved
into town.

Mr. Grussing taught school for 12 years, farming in the summer and teaching
through the winter. He was a student and a well read man, always keeping himself
well posted on current events of the times. (Estherville Enterprise,
