Mrs. Helen Andrews Sheppard, 92, of Lanett, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
She was born December 21, 1919, in Ridge Grove to Bertha Henderson Andrews and James Leonard Andrews, the third of six children. Mrs. Sheppard was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Carl V. Sheppard; her sister Elizabeth Cotter and brother-in law Julian Cotter; her sister Mary Jim Farrington and brother-in-law A.C. Farrington; her brother James Zachry Andrews; her brother-in-law Bob Owen; and one great-grandson Bryant Cornell Sheppard.
Mrs. Sheppard is survived by her sister, Dot Andrews Allen and brother-in-law Palmer Allen, of Ridge Grove; her sister Jean Andrews Owen of Phenix City; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Andrews of LaFayette.
She is also survived by her son, Richard (Sue) Sheppard of LaFayette, their children, Brandon (Marci) Sheppard and their children, Brady and Manning Sheppard, all of Hoover, AL; Stephen (Beth) Sheppard and their children, Blake and Drew Sheppard, all of LaFayette.
She is also survived by her daughter, Margaret (Tom) McNaron, their son, Benjamin Sheppard (Nikki) McNaron and their child Sophia Kathryn McNaron, all of Anniston, AL.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Lanett on Saturday, October 27.
She and her husband operated Sheppard Insurance Co. in Lanett for many years. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Lanett in Mrs. Sheppard's memory.
