Lillie Mae Buchanan Ayers, 90, Grantville, died Nov. 11, 2001. She was born Sept. 12, 1912 in Roanoke, Ala., the daughter of Emory and Lucy Buchanan. She spent most of her life in the West Georgia area and was a member of Lowell United Methodist Church, Lowell, Ga. She had a love of cooking and caring for all her children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Grady Thomas Ayers; sons, Raymond Ayers and Henry Ayers; and a daughter, Joyce Ayers Bailey.
Services were at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Jimmy Lee, officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.
Survivors include sons, James E. Ayers, Smith Station, Ala., Howard Eugene Ayers, Hogansville, Ga. and Marvin Ayers, Dalton, Ga.; daughters, Ruby Lee, Newnan and Hazel Bradley, Jonesboro; brothers, Grover Buchanan, Lithia Springs, Ga., Ezra Buchanan, Mt. Zion, Ga., and Rayford Buchanan, Whitesburg; sisters, Irene Carroll and Annie Kate Patterson, both of Carrollton, Ga., and Reba Smith, Nashville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
