Jennie Dorsey Hampton was born in Oak Ridge, Morehouse, Louisiana, and died in Rayville, Richland, Louisiana. Her father John Peyton Hampton (1851-1920) is buried in Church of the Redeemer Cemetery. Her mother Jane (Jennie) Dorsey was born in Jefferson County, Mississippi In 1854 and died about 1888 in Oak Ridge, Morehouse, Louisiana. The location of her gravesite is unknown.
Jennie Dorsey Hampton was awarded a diploma in English from St. Katherine’s School in Bolivar, Tennessee in May of 1904. She married Dr. Francis Victor Jordan in 1906. The couple had four living children and one stillborn child. Tragically Dr. Jordan died at the age of 44. Jennie moved to Ruston, Louisiana, around 1935 and then to Rayville in the 1950’s to be near her children and grandchildren
