Arthur William Beck, 85, of French Lick, passed away at 7:40 PM, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Arthur was born September 1, 1927 in Dubois County, IN, to George and Alma (Bretz) Beck. He married Sarah Annabelle Weikert on September 25, 1964 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2007.

He was a 1945 graduate of French Lick High School and had worked as a cabinet maker at Cornwells and had also worked at Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He was a member of Cane Creek Christian Church in French Lick where he served several years as a song leader and an elder and the French Lick American Legion Post #76. He had also served as song leader at the Paoli Christian Church. Arthur was a WWII Veteran of the Army-Aircorp. He enjoyed farming and gardening.

He is survived by his sons, Darwin (Deborah) Beck of French Lick, Aaron (Tonya) Beck, Loogootee, David (Judy) Beck of Montross, Virginia and Richard Beck of Indianapolis, daughters, Donna Rutherford of Paoli and Vicky Edmonds of Kentucky and nine grandchildren along with one on the way and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Mae Sims, Bloomington and Shirley Smith of North Carolina.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife and a brother, Ralph Beck.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 5, 2012 at T.L. Pinnick Mortuary with Rev. Lowell McIntosh officiating with burial in Cane Creek Cemetery . Friends may call on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM and again on Monday, from 9:00 AM until the service time. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross, 1600 West 3rd Street Bloomington, IN 47404 or the Cane Creek Cemetery Perpetual Fund, c/o Bob Watts, 9637 West County Road 375 South, French Lick, IN 47432.
