LAYTON – Dean J. Hanney, 78, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from a sudden stroke.

He was born April 22, 1934 in Layton, Utah the son of Chris Samuel and Mabel Ada Jaques Hanney.

Dean married Constance Karen Adams on March 4, 1955 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple in May 1982.

He was a High Priest in the Snow Creek Ward where he worked in many positions.

Dean retired from HAFB in 1993 after 33 years where he worked as an aircraft mechanic on the F-4 and C-130.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Dean especially enjoyed being with his family. After his retirement he stayed home to raise four granddaughters.

Surviving are his wife Connie of Layton; son Val Dean (Rene) Hanney of So. Weber; four daughters, Terry Hanney Hampton of Roy; Denise Hanney (Bart) Ignash of Layton; Darla Hanney of Layton; Dana Hanney of Draper; 11 grandchildren, Brennan, Zoe and Reyna (raised by grandma and grandpa ), Tarah, Chelsa, Colt, Trae, Stone, Jude, Wyatt and Samantha, great-granddaughters, Brooklynn and Piper, two brothers, Blaine, Laren, three sisters, Nola Jean, Emma Lou and Linda.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Faye and brother Keith. Dean will be missed by his family, especially his sense of humor which was manifested even on his death bed.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
