MT. PLEASANT - Patricia 'Pat' Balsano, age 68, died Friday October 28 2005 at her residence. Born on July 18, 1937, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Winik) Slagoski. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha, having attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and St. Mary's High School. She would continue her education and receive her nursing diploma from St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee. On August 27, 1960, she married Joseph S. Balsano at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kenosha. For many years she was employed as an Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Racine, and also at Lincoln Lutheran in the Racine area. As a Registered Nurse she was instrumental in bringing natural child birth to the Kenosha/Racine area. She retired in 1997. She loved animals and was known for "rescuing" many from landing in the local animal shelter. She loved all aspects of ethnic culture, and would often attend many different ethnic festivals with her husband. She especially loved ethnic dancing and music. She was a member of the local International Dance Club. Together with her husband, they loved to travel. She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Mount Pleasant; two sons, Jeff (Ruth) Balsano of Monroe, Rick (Aida) Balsano of Boston, Mass.; three daughters Bernadette (Scott) Moore of Sturtevant, Therese Ann Balsano of Fla., Sheribeth Balsano of Racine, one granddaughter, Samantha; two step grandsons, Jason and Christopher; and one brother D. James (Jeanne) Slagoski of Kenosha. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two twin sons, Joseph and Silvio in infancy. A Mass of Christian Burial for Pat will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Kenosha, 2224-30th Avenue. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of mass. Burial will be private at St. George Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Wisconsin Parkinson Association, 945-N.112th Street, Suite 4602, Milwaukee WI 53233.
