Laughton was born in Sulphur Springs on March 26, 1925 and passed away in Cambridge City, Indiana.

He was the son of Garrett and Lillian Mauck Allen.

He graduated from Sulpher Springs High School.

He served in the U. S. Army and was a World War II Veteran. He lived most of his life in Cambridge City and had owned Allen Chevrolet since 1967. He received awards from the State of Indiana for being a business owner for over 50 years. He was past president of the Evening Kiwanis Club and had been a member for 50 years. He was instrumental in starting Little League baseball in the Western Wayne area.

He was Citizen of the Year in 1990 and in 1992 he and his wife served as Canal Days Parade Marshalls. He was a member of Hartley Hills Country Club.

He was a huge supporter of Lincoln High School athletics and IU Basketball. He was a member of the Cambridge City Christian Church.

He and his wife, Betty, were married 60 years. They were married on April 13, 1944.

Funeral services were held at the Cambridge City Christian Church and burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
