He enlisted in April 1780, served at various times, about one year and nine months in all, as a Private and Indian Spy in Captain Joseph's Ogle's Company under Colonel Hedge, Brodhead and Williamson in the Pennsylvania Troops, was in a skirmish at Coshocton and took that town from the Indians and was discharged 1 January 1782.
