Joan worked for many years driving special education children to school, and volunteered her time at Simeana and St Vincent DePaul.
She was a former member of the Elo United Methodist Church, A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and in her last years attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie.
Joan had a love of nature and the outdoors which was unsurpassed, and was still tent camping by herself at age 88. She loved gardening, knitting, feeding and watching birds, and taking a trip on the open road.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale in 1997, and son Bruce in 2009. She is survived by her son, Craig Parfitt (Julie Gordon) of Oshkosh; grandson, Derik; and granddaughter, Coleen; Son, Arden Parfitt (Katie) of Madison and grandchildren: Legacy, Skyler, and Lindsy; and brother, Lyle Barth (Lois) of South Milwaukee.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, with Rev. Steve Vera officiating. Friends will be received at the cemetery chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park
