Probably born in State Bridge, NY where her parents lived at the time with her mother Phebe Hyland's family. Her parents moved to Canada soon after the 1850 census and lived there for several years. There Roseann married her second cousin John W. Farnsworth on 12 Apr 1866 in the Wesleyan Methodist Church at at Woodstock, Canada West (now Ontario). They lived for a while in Wayne County, NY. The family settled in Sanilac County, Michigan before the 1870 census. There John received bounty land for his Civil War service. After several years of farming, John bought a hotel in Deckerville and operated it until his death in 1906.

After her husband's death, Roseann went to Oklahoma for a time with her sister Sarah and her husband Thomas Farnsworth supposedly to participate in the land rush, but they did not get any land. Eventually Roseann met and married John Harrison on 11 Nov 1908 in Arkansas. By the 1910 census, she and John Harrison were back in Sanilac County. John Harrison and Roseann may have subsequently separated because John died in St. Louis in 1919. Apparently Roseann lived with her daughter Sadie (Sarah) Bufton in Port Huron for the last part of her life.
