Obituary published in The Gospel Messenger, February 25, 1928, page 126:

Ladonia Flora Saul, daughter of Peter and Jane Stover Flora, was born in Franklin County, Virginia, Oct. 18, 1863, and departed this life Dec. 20, 1927, at Octavia, Nebr.

She was the sixth in a family of seven children. Her parents, one brother and three grandchildren preceded her to the beyond.

At the age of fourteen years she was converted and united with the Church of the Brethren and remained faithful until death.

She was married to Thomas C. Saul of Virginia on March 11, 1888. To this union five children were born – two sons and three daughters.

In 1890 she came with her husband to Nebraska, living her two years before returning to Virginia. After three years they again came west, living for about nine months in Missouri, and then locating in Nebraska.

With their older children they lived in Colfax County on a farm until March 1900 when they moved to Butler County, where they have resided ever since in and near Octavia.

Sister Saul loved her church and was always interested in its activities. At the time of her death she was president of the Ladies’ Aid Society, which position she had held for a number of years. When her health permitted her she was a regular attendant at all church services. Some weeks prior to her death she was anointed.

She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and was intensely concerned with everything that had to do with her home and family. Her busy life is done. Her task is finished and she has gone home. Her life remains in our memories as an inspiration and her words of counsel and encouragement are still ours to remember. She expressed her willingness to go to her heavenly home and there she awaits the coming of her dear ones.

She is survived by her husband, five children: Peter T. and Reuben of Octavia, Mrs. Lillian Keller of Octavia, Mrs. Golden Trout of Ansley, Nebr., and Mrs. Gertrude Evans of Mineral Center, Minn., and twenty-one grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters also are left. They are John H. Flora and Amos Flora of New Carlisle, Ohio, and L. B. Flora of Danville, Va., Mrs. Margaret Teel of Wirtz, Va., and Mrs. Rinda Peters of Roanoke, Va. None of whom are present at this time. She will be greatly missed in the home as well as in the entire community and the church which she loved. Services were held in the Octavia Brethren Church with Eld. L. L. Meek officiating assisted by the writer.
