Gary L. Wellman, age 57, Columbus, died of A.L.S. on October 27, 2012. He is preceded in death by mother Frances I. Wellman. Survived by father, Milton E., and brothers, Carl S. and Dennis E.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church; a graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School, bachelor's from Captial University, (a winner of a Grieg Piano Scholarship), master's from Cleveland Institute (Summa Cum Laude), and a doctorate A.B.D. from the University of Cincinnati. He was a member of the National Honor Society and served as president of MTNA while professor of music at Illinois State University.
Visitation will be Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with service to follow at 1 p.m. at O.R. Woodyard Co., 1346 S. High St., Pastor Tony Luizzo officiating. Interment Obetz Cemetery.
