Pearl M. Jacoby, Former Carmen Wine Company Owner

Pearl M. Jacoby, (nee Mayer) of Elyria passed away on Thursday evening, October 29, 2012 at the Wesleyan Village following a brief illness.

Mrs. Jacoby was born in Lorain the daughter of the late Max and Helen (nee Weiss) Mayer.

She was a graduate Lorain High School Class of 1917B and attended Western Reserve College, Ohio State University and the Hebrew Union College. A lifelong member of Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue, she was also an associate member of the Temple B'nai Abraham in Elyria.

Mrs. Jacoby was a life member of Hadassah, a member of the Elyria Temple B'nai Abraham Sisterhood, the former "Cousins" Club, and a former Sunday School teacher.

She and her late husband owned and operated the former Carmen Wine Company in Elyria, where she handled all the clerical task until it's closure and their retirement in the mid 1960's.

Mrs. Jacoby is survived by her son Marc D. Jacoby of Elyria, a sister Ruth M. Sepsenwol of Charlotte, NC., many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family

Funeral Services will be Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Schwartz,. Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, with Cantor David Wolinski officiating.

Burial will be in the at Salem Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Agudath B'nai Israel Synagogue, Endowment Fund or the Holocaust Fund, PO Box 3188, Lorain, 44052 or the Temple B'nai Abraham, 530 Gulf Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
