John Newman comes to his death by pulling gun through wire fence after him -
It was developed over the inquest of of John H Newman of Cropsey , whose deathw as noted in yesterdays Pantagraph , that he came to his death by the accidental discharge of a shot gun, which he was pulling through a wire fence after him . It seems he had gone hunting, and when he did not return at a proper time, a search was instituted and his body was found with a jagged wound in the side , where the charge had entered the body . He had evidently crawled through the fence , and then started to pull the gun through the wire , when the trigger caught and the gun discharged .
The deceased was 40 years old and had come to Illinois from Franklin County, KY about seventeen years ago . Besides his wife he left two children a son and a daughter. He was a member of the Odd Fellows , the Modern Woodsman, and Court of Honor which organizations will participate in the funeral services , to be held Sunday afternoon. Rev. M.P. Lackland officiating . The remains will be interred in the Cropsey Cemetery . He was quite comfortably situated financially, having a very pleasant home. His life insurance amounts to $7,000.00
