Robert bought a tract of land from George Whitlock on Sep 2nd 1807-(DB11, p. 341, Campbell Co.). He then posted a bond in 13 Oct 1817 to be a tobacco inspector for Planters' Warehouse (DB11, p. 328, Campbell Co.).
Polly & Robert had ten children living when he passed away at age 47 as reported in "Marriages and Deaths from Lynchburg, Virginia Newspapers", 1794-1836. page 167, published in "The Lynchburg Virginian" on 18 Jan 1827 p.3 column 3. "COLEMAN, CAPT. Robert S died on 2nd inst. Jan 1827."
Robert's estate was appraised on 12 Jan 1828 (WB6, p. 12, Campbell Co.VA).
All ten of their children are named in chancery case 1856-012, Campbell Co Va. He was often referred to as just "the Captain".
Although SAR approved the 1960 application showing parents of Robt Coleman as Thomas Coleman and Mary Woolfolk, this was later disproven when a deed was found in a home in Kentucky c. 2003, proving it was another lineage stemming from Robert Coleman - Ann Spilsbe line.
