Donald Ray McCauley, 81, of Ross, passed away peacefully Monday, October 8, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones. A viewing and visitation service will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Some of Don's art work will be displayed in lieu of flowers. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Don was born in Bynum, Texas, to the late Clarence J. and Gladys (Alvis) McCauley. On Sept. 2, 1951, he was united in marriage to Wanda Joyce Lykins in Waco. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

As an artist, he painted many pictures of rural scenes, for which he had a life-long attraction. After receiving degrees from Baylor University and Texas A&M University, he spent more than 35 years teaching business courses that he loved, at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and most recently, at McLennan Community College. His students remember him as a teacher who could communicate otherwise boring information with zest and humor.

Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, James Harvey McCauley and Colan Robert "Bob" McCauley.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda McCauley, of Ross; daughters, Ellen Frances McCauley Sodek and husband, Franklin, of Temple, and Sara Annell Mynarcik and husband, Michael, of West; grandchildren, Elizabeth Rachel Sodek Blackmur and husband, Bryan, of Chester, England, Alexander Edward Mynarcik and wife, Kara, of Ross, and Philip Wayne Mynarcik, of Ross and College Station; brothers, Clarence J. McCauley Jr. and wife, Jewel, and Gerald Wayne McCauley and wife, Beverly; a special uncle, Herman McCauley and wife, Edna; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
