Ruth Ann Adelmund, age 69, of Marble Rock, Iowa, was born the sixth child of 10 children and daughter of Carl and Helen (Ressler) Gallmeyer on April 16, 1943, Clarksville, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from the Clarksville High School in 1961.

On June 2, 1961, Ruth Gallmeyer was united in marriage with Douglas Adelmund at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, making their home west of Clarksville. Through the years Ruth was a loving homemaker. They also lived in other area communities of Gladbrook, Reinbeck, Grundy Center, Aplington, Waverly, Northwood, Cedar Falls, where they retired in 2000, and for a short time they lived in Nora Springs. In 2008 Ruth moved to Marble Rock, Iowa.

Ruth was a member of New Life Lutheran Church, worshipping at Unity Presbyterian Church, rural Clarksville. She enjoyed spending many years researching genealogy for both the Adelmund and Gallmeyer families. In her spare time she liked making crafts, especially with plastic canvass, doing word search and visiting with her family and friends often. Her main focus in life was devoted to her many cherished nieces and nephews.

Ruth was called home on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Doug, of 47 years on September 17, 2008; a baby sister, Doris Jean Gallmeyer; and one brother, Claire Gallmeyer.

Ruth's family includes: eight siblings, Claire Gallmeyer (deceased), Barbara Hilton of Marble Rock, Iowa, Phyllis (Harlan) Steiber of Lansing, Iowa, Ken Gallmeyer of Nashua, Iowa, Lee (Nedra) Gallmeyer, Galen (Kathy) Gallmeyer, Helen DeWitt and Marlene (Ted) Stirling; many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Gallmeyer and Adelmund families and many friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the New Life Lutheran Church worshipping at Unity Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Lynwood Cemetery both Clarksville.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, (319)278-4245, and one hour before services at the church.
