Chi Gamble's Services Today

Funeral services for Claude Holland (Chi) Gamble, 68, associate editor of the Peoria Star, will beheld at 2p.m. today in the Scottish Rite Cathedral. He will be laid to rest in Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
Chi's humor and philosophy in his daily column "Sideswipes" and "Levee Park Owl" and his many speeches throughout Central Illinois, endeared him to thousands. He died Friday night in Proctor hospital after a heart attack.
Hundreds paid homage to his memory Sunday at the Cumerford-Endsley funeral home, and more are expected today, as visitation will be in order in Scottish Rite Cathedral for an hour before services.
Dr. Arthur r. McLaughlin of Union Congregational church will be assisted in the services by the Rev, Ralph Kearns of Flint, Mich., a brother-in-law, who will read the Scripture, and by the Rev. Kermit Peterson of Galesburg, who will offer prayer.
Pallbearers will be H. Dale Morgan, Robert J. Crombie, H. W. Lynch, Cullen Hunt, L. M. Woodruff and G. G. Anderson.
A section will be reserved at the service in the Scottish Rite Cathedral for his associates on the Peoria Star and Peoria Journal Star.
