Betty Abell, 91, of Buffalo died Wednesday, Dec 1, 1982 at her home.

Nannie Betty Dotson married Alfred Goodson Allen on Apr 1, 1908 at the home of her parents, Emily Jane and William Holland Dotson. After Goodson Allen's death she married William (Bill) Abell in 1929.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a retired Attilla postmaster, and a member of Buffalo Eastern Star. She is survived by two daughters, Lillie Roark, of Buffalo and Evelyn Bennett of Summersville; two step-daughters, Edna Helm of Decatur, Illinois and Lillian Laiser of Wapella, Illinois; one step-son, William Abell of Wapella, Illinois; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The following was reported to me by Ken Beard (deceased), 1998: Alfred Goodson "Joe" Allen and Nannie "Betty" Dotson are our (Jesse Lee's and mine) grandparents. Joe died when my mother was 3 and grandma married William "Bill" Abell. Bill had married Lizzie Pickerell and moved to Wapella, Ill. Lizzie died in Ill. about the same time that Joe did and grandma moved to Ill. after Joe died. Bill's children stayed in Ill. after he and grandma were married and they returned to Attilla with Howard, Jane, Lillie "Aunt Till" and mom. Bill died in Hodgenville in 1955. They returned his body to Wapella.

The body was at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home until funeral services Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Skaggs, the Rev. Walter Lay and the Rev. Lindsey Salsman, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
