Edward was the last of four children born to William Scofield II (1833-1903) and Juliann Jackman (1834-1863). His older siblings were Charles H. (b.1856), William F. (b.1858), Louisa (b.1860). Sadly, Edward died when he was barely three months old and his brother William and his mother Juliann would both die within a month's time.
