POQUOSON - Henry Thomas "Tom" Bunting, 77, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at home surrounded by his family.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and retired from N.A.S.A. in 1988 after 20 years. Tom had a great love of the water and was well known for making crabpots for local waterman.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Velva Bunting, and grandson, Brian Thomas Bunting.

He is survived by a son, Larry Bunting and wife, Linda; two daughters, Pam Bunting and husband, Bob, and Sherri Bunting; a brother, Olen Ray Bunting and wife, Madge; six grandchildren, Greg, Shane, Tara, Tiffany, RJ, and Derek; and six great-grandchildren, Kylee, Nicholas, Emma, Natalie, Hayden, and Avery.

The family would like to acknowledge their mother, Merle Dean, for her loving care and support during their dad's illness.
