Gary Edward Banks, 58 of Ames died on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 8 at the Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.
Gary was born on November 17, 1951 in Nevada to Harley E. "Jack" and Elva L. (Cunningham) Banks. He was a 1971 graduate of Nevada High School. On March 7, 1988, Gary married Barbara Malia Best in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed fishing and playing blackjack.
Gary is survived by his wife, Barb Banks of Ames; 2 brothers, Darrell Banks of Stanhope and Kenneth Banks of Nevada; 2 sisters, Joan Mayfield of Nevada and Marilyn Jones of Ames; his mother-in law, Anna M. Best of Ames; brother and sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Lyle, Ronald and Harley Banks.
A memorial fund has been established in Gary's name.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada was entrusted with the care of Gary and his family.
