"David Bennet
Special to The New York Times.
Port Jervis N.Y., Jan 9 [published 10 Jan 1902, page 7]. - David Bennet, a prominent citizen of Port Jervis, and a member of a distinguished family of the Navesink [sic: Minisink] Valley, died at his home here this afternoon of paralysis after a ten-years' illness, during the last three of which he was confined to his bed. He was seventy-two years of age.

Mr Bennet was born in Montague, N.J., but soon afterward his father, James Bennet, moved to this village, and in 1855 represented the Third District of Orange County in the Assembly. David Bennet spent the greater portion of his life in extensive milling interests here, of which he was first manager and then proprietor, but during the last few years he was engaged in the insurance business. He was a prominent Odd Fellow.

Mr Bennet leaves two unmarried daughters, a son, Wilton Bennet, who is a leading attorney here; four brothers, Siveryne [sic] Bennet, Galen Bennet, and Wilhelmus Bennet, well known business men of this village, and James E. Bennet, father of Assemblyman W. S. Bennet of the twenty-first District, New York City."

Buried January 9th.
