James W. Hunter, 64, of Route 2, Bluford died 1:58 9.m. Sept. 27, 1994, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

He was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Mt Vernon, a son of James L. and Lulu M. (Marlow) Hunter. June 1, 1948 in Morganfield, Ky., he married Patricia C. Sheridan, who survives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home. Jefferson County Shrine club walk-through services will be held 7:30p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hunter is survived by two daughters, Frances Justice and husband John of Collinsville, and Elizabeth McAlexander and husband Bruce of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Sean Justice, Marc Justice, Shannon McAlexander and Tobey McAlexander, and a sister Jean Shelton and husband Robert of St. Louis.

Mr. Hunter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Elks Lodge 819 in Mt. Vernon, Amvets post 4, Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755, and Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31 AF and AM.

He was also a member of Andrew D. Webb Chapter 160 Royal Arch Mason of Illinois, Patton Commandery 69 Knights Templar of Mt. Vernon, Royal and Select Masters of the Stat of Illinois (Salem Council 97) Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Southern Illinois, Jefferson county Shrine Club, and Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis.

Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
