Son of Henry and Mary (Crymes) Edwards, born in Lower Lelant Town, and christened 10 April 1625. He was a gentleman, and resided at "The Abbey", a 15th century former religious edifice purchased by his great-grandfather after the dissolution of the church properties by Henry VIII. He was the eldest of seven children, the others being Francis, Thomas, Jane, Margaret, Elizabeth and Agnes. Arthur married late, and the name of his wife is not known for certain, but she may be the Jane Edwards who died at Lelant in 1683. He was the father of two children, a son Thomas who died in his late teens, and a daughter Gertrude. Arthur died in 1716 at the age of 91.
