CURWENSVILLE - Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc., Curwensville, for John Shannon Appleton, 21, of Curwensville, who died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Clearfield Hospital, as a result of an industrial accident.
Revs. Thomas Darr and H. Lee Hebel will co-officiate. Interment will be at Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville RR.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Born Nov. 16, 1978 in Clearfield, he was a son of John A. Appleton and Jacquelyn J. Myers.
Mr. Appleton was employed at Appalachian Wood Products Inc., of Clearfield.
He was a 1997 graduate of Curwensville Area High School, where he had participated in football, wrestling and was a member of the National Honor Society. He attended Grace Lutheran Church in Curwensville and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Clearfield Chapter.
He is survived by his mother and father, both of Curwensville; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Appleton; his brother, Jay Miles Appleton, both of Hill St., Curwensville; his maternal grandfather, Ivan, and step grandmother, Joan Myers of Clearfield, and his paternal grandmother, Twila Briskar of Curwensville.
Also surviving are four aunts, an uncle, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Gertrude Myers; his paternal grandfather, Miles C. Appleton; an aunt and a cousin.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Curwensville Public Library or a church of the donor's choice.
