Arthur W. Anderson, 82, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Provena Geneva Care Center in Geneva. He was born in Geneva, the son of Arthur and Margaret (nee Duerr) Anderson. He was united in marriage to Betty Beckman on February 22, 1947, in Batavia.
Arthur proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Seas. He was a member of the Batavia VFW Post 1197.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; nine children, Jerri (Darrell) Moore, Joanne (Bob) Lentz, Janet Anderson, Arthur (Donna) Anderson, David Anderson, Judy (Jim) Schonback, Robert Anderson, Jane (Tim) Brinker, and Mike (Beatriz Garcia-Fresca) Anderson; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell (Vida) Anderson and Donald (Jeanne) Anderson; one sister, Katherine DePotter; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Arthur is preceded in death by a son, Scott; a granddaughter, Heather Ann Anderson; a sister, Dorothy Anderson; and five brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Richard, John, and James.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2003 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Yurs-Peterson-Moss Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31), Batavia, IL. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 18, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. David Foxgrover officiating. Interment River Hills Memorial Park.
