Ila B. Sparks, age 82, of Bancroft, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services held at the Assembly of God Church in Plainfield, the Rev. Frank Reagan officiated. Burial in the Plainfield Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.

Mrs. Sparks was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Portage County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Meddaugh) DeWitt. She was married to Orris Sparks on Sept. 4, 1939, in Plainfield. He died Jan. 1, 1988.

She operated a farm market for many years. She was a women's missionary for the Assembly of God and a 26-year board member of the Plainfield Assembly of God. She also taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Dexter (friend Judy) and Daniel (Roberta), both of Bancroft; four daughters, Jean (Ken) Darcztowa, Hancock, Charlotte (Orin) Nigh, Bancroft, Edna (Junia) Luhm, Wautoma, and Berdine (Ed) Leavitt, Nekoosa; one brother, Cecil (Roberta) DeWitt, Wisconsin Rapids; four sisters, Iva Sauer, Wisconsin Rapids, Leila (Paul) Billman, Rio, Amoryallis Frey, Wisconsin Rapids, and Darleen (Gerald) Klevene, Nekoosa; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Oliver; one brother, Oliver; and five grandchildren.
