Cecil is the son of Arthur Emery DeWitt and Ethel Marie Meddaugh.

Cecil E. DeWitt, 71, of 414 Chestnut St., Wisconsin Rapids, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Life Fellowship in Port Edwards. The Revs. Robert Curle, Todd Winkler and Dean Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield.

Cecil was born May 15, 1934, in Adams County to Arthur E. and Ethel (Meddaugh) DeWitt. His marriage to Roberta Emery took place on Oct. 22, 1955.

He worked for numerous oil and cement companies until 1960, when he began working at Consolidated Papers Inc., retiring in 1984. He was a self-employed electrician for 25 years, drove school bus for 11 years for Safeway Bus Transit, drove bus to pick up children for Sunday school and was a hobby farmer.

He attended the Rapids Assembly of God Church in Wisconsin Rapids, where he was an active member, deacon and usher. During this period he traveled to Guatemala, where he helped build a church for the Guatemalan people. In 2003 he began attending Christian Life Fellowship in Port Edwards.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta of Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters, Cheryl (fiancee Paul Helminiak) DeWitt, and Ronda (Jim) Alft, both of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren, Kompten DeWitt, and Phillip, Jordyn and Landen Alft; one great-grandson, Chyler DeWitt; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ila; and a brother, Oliver.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Higgins Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, and at Christian Life Fellowship in Port Edwards on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

A memorial will be established at a later date.
