Mrs. W.N. Bynum
Mrs. Gertrude Bynum, 38, died at 8:20 am Saturday at her home, 1301 Chester Street. She is survived by her husband, W.N. Bynum Sr. of San Antonio, Texas; three sons W.N. Bynum, Jr. of San Antonio, Woodrow Bynum of Little Rock, and Ralph H. Bynum of Dallas, Tex.; a daughter Mrs. Tom Whittenburg of Skiatook, Okla. and a sister Mrs. J. Haley of Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a member of the First Baptist church at Morrilton. The body is being held at the Healey & Roth chapel pending funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Bynum, 1301 Chester Street, who died at her home Saturday, will be held at the Healey & Roth chapel at 2:30 p.m. Monday in charge of the Rev. W. Roy Jordan. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Active--Frank Roberts, James Harper, James Beard, John Metzger, George Fultz, Buddy Hart, Rex Knowlton, and Robert Hamilton: honorary--Capt Jackson Lay,Milton Krcher, Gene Marlor, Paul Ezell, James Stotts, Holtbert Akins, Bud Oliver, Dr. C.R. Reed, Dr. Dewell Gann Jr., Curtis Rogers, Flewelleyn Shingleur, David Perdun and Dr. Hoyt Choate.

Gertrude Haley was The eldest of three children. Her mother Nancy died in childbirth with baby #4. Gertrude and her siblings were raised separately. She was raised by her maternal grandmother Millie Ann Aydelott (Pettigrew, Harville) her uncle, Rufus Leander "Lee" Harville and her half sister Eliza Jane Pettigrew Lee.

Gertie married William Nathan Bynum on May 18, 1911 in Tupelo, Atoka Co., Oklahoma. At the time of marriage Gert listed her residence as Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri.
William previously married to Elizabeth Melvina Moon had 2 sons from the prior marriage. Gertrude helped raise them. Morris Sheppard "Bill" Bynum and Ralph Bynum

1920 Census Find William & Gert living at 1001 South 10th Street in Muskogee, OK. Morris is a truck driver for the general store.

1930 Census finds William & Gert living on Moose Road in Morrilton, Arkansas. Rent was $30 per month.

In 1931, William was an Railroad auditor for the Motor Transportation Association in Little Rock, Arkansas.

William remarried after Gertrude died, 3rd wife's name unknown. Married in Little Rock. Additional info or photos of them would be greatly appreciated.
