Statesboro - Roy C. Barnes, 83, died Monday May 12, 2003. The native of Ware County moved to Statesboro in 1947. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 90, Statesboro and had been in the American Legion for 52 years. He was a past member of the Metter VFW and a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kennedy Barnes.

Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sally Barnes; granddaughter, Mary Ann Barnes all of Mary Esther, FL.

Graveside Funeral Service and Burial: 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Eastside Cemetery. Jake A. Futch Funeral Home.
