Marriage bond shows 28 Nov. 1851 and Stanley Kirby was the J.P. Early Marriages of N. C. Ruffin & Sarah Sillavant (Sullivant) 9 Nov 1851 Johnston Co.
Ruffin was a CSA Veteran. He was in the 50 North Carolina Infantry. 50th Regiment, North Caroline Infantry. Company C. Private film # M230 roll 38.
He was married the first time to Sally (Sarah) Sullivant(Sullivan married a Sullivant). Sarah died in childbirth apparently when Clara was born according to the Sarah Frances Sullivan Robbins Family History.

He was married the 2nd. time to Mary Argent Mozingo.
She is buried in Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah. She, her sister Elsie, and Mother Mary are buried side by side in the Gillcrest Area just behind the cremation wall. Her middle name is spelled Argent. Has also been spelled Argant.
Her son Gary went to Utah around 1900 to be with his brother James Henry. When she left Wayne, N. C. she along with her daughters Elsie, Mary, and Eva moved with daughter Loue & William Henry Mitchell to Petersburg, Va. Later on in January 1913 she along with her daughters; Elsie, Mary and Eva arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah to be with her son James Henry Sullivan and son Gary. In the 1920 Salt Lake Census she and her daughter Eva are both living with Gary. She died 20 July 1929 in Salt Lake City 959 West 4th South, Salt Lake, Utah. Death certificate no 1335. she was widowed and her husband was Ruffin Sullivan. Her son James H. Sullivan gave the information.

1900 census Mary is in Wayne, N. C. a widow 49 head of family, and listed with her is 7 of 10 children she was married 20 years. Mary is 49, Loue Eva is 24, James H is 19 Garry is 17, Dysena is 15, Mary is 12, Elsie is 8, and Eva is 6.
In the 1910 census she has moved to Richmond, Va. living at 210 29 St. with daughters Mary, Eva, and Elsie. The went to SLC to live around her two sons James Henry and Gary arriving there in Jan. 1913.
Places she lived after she moved from Wayne, N. C. to Richmond, Va.
210 29th St.; 304 34th St.; 316 36th St.; and 205 S. Meadow St. Her daughter Dysena and her husband lived there with them. This is also the place she lived just before she left for Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a 2 story terrace home.

Although she was a very tiny woman in statue, she raised and became mother to Sally's children, as well as raising 10 more children of her own. She had to have been a wonderful, loving and great woman.
