Eastport – Elsie May Calder, 89, died at her home on Sunday, July 27, 2008. Elsie was born in Eastport on May 11, 1919. She was employed for many years as a library assistant with the Peavey Memorial Library in Eastport. Elsie was a member of the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home Auxiliary and enjoyed traveling, dining out, and visiting with family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Agnes Cheverie; two grandsons, Mark Carter and Alfred Carter Jr.; and her brothers and sisters. Surviving are her two children, Pearl McKnight and her husband Gordon of Eastport, and Walter Calder and his wife Doris of Madisonville, LA; three grandchildren, Jason Calder and his wife Kelly of Baltimore, MD, Chad Calder of Baton Rouge, LA, and Ethan Calder and Julie of Slidel, LA; a great-grandson, Joshua Carter of Charlotte; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and her long-time friend, Inez Segien.
Burial will be in Restlawn Cem., Perry, ME. (Mays Funeral Home)
