MILTON — John O. Becker, 87, of Montour Street, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.

He was born May 28, 1923, in Roundtown, a son of the late William D. and Mamie (Gotwalt) Becker. On June 22, 1942, he married the former Mary Alice Wire and his death breaks a marital union of 68 years.

John was a World War II veteran serving with the 1080 Army Engineers.

He was employed as a supervisor with the United States Federal Penitentiary Prison Industries, retiring in 1978.

John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Milton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bradley L. Becker and Dennis L. Becker, both of Danville; three grandchildren, Brian Becker, Karl Becker and Amanda Kitchens; three great-grandchildren, Eric Becker, Megan Becker and Kaylee Yocum; one brother, George Becker, of York; and one sister, Florence Hoover, of York.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Sumner in 2008; and four brothers, Bill Becker, Bob Becker, Dan Smyser and Harold Becker.

Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Shaw Funeral Home, Milton. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Mahoning St., Milton, with the Rev. Cheryl L. Berner, officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in the Milton Cemetery.
