St. George, Utah - Dorothy Jean W. Davis, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 after a short battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer.

She was born April 30, 1926 in Evanston, Wyoming, to Wallace W. White and Mabel Sparks White, the second of six daughters.

She married Virgil Gene Davis in Evanston, WY and the marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they raised four children: Marlene (Bruce) Niederhauser of St. George, Chris (Debbie) Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Becky Davis (deceased) and Alan (Jen) Davis of Beaverton, OR.

Dorothy worked as a nurse at Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT. She resided in South Ogden, UT, Cathedral City, CA and most recently in Star Valley Ranch, WY and St. George, UT. Dorothy and Virgil loved to travel and visited many places throughout the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; two sisters: Lavon Cornia and Wallie Charles; and a great-grandson, Max Niederhauser.

She is survived by three sisters: Melba Amsler, Arlene Jones both of Evanston, WY and Janice Conner of Oklahoma City, OK; three children; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2;00 p.m. at the Washington Heights Cemetery, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
