John Everett Campbell, 55, well known Martinsville resident, passed away early Tuesday morning at his home on Water Street, following a long decline in health.
Death was attributed to a complication of diseases.
He had been in poor health for the past year.
A native of Stokes County, N.C., the deceased with his family moved to Martinsville about fifteen years ago to reside.
Since that time he had held a responsible position in the production department of the American Furniture Company. Funeral services were held from the late residence Wednesday afternoon.
Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery.
Members of the Martinsville Council of the J. O. U. A. M. attended the services in a body in paying a faithful member their final tribute. He had been an active member of this lodge for many years.
Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Susie Shelton Campbell and the following children: Coy, Harvey, Hassel and John E. Campbell Jr., Mrs. John W. Stultz and Misses Alma, Lois, Pauline and Dorothy May Campbell.
Two brothers, P. C. Campbell and R. M. Campbell of Danbury, N.C., and one sister, Mrs. D. F. Rhodes of Stella, Va., also survive.
