∼Alexander Boggs Boren joined the Confederate military at the age of 16-years old in Collin Co. Texas in 1862 as a Private in the 16th Texas Cavalry, Company B, under Capt. Hezekiah Warden. Alexander was honorably discharged after his age became known following the 1863 "Battle of Milliken's Bend" in Louisiana where his older brother, Pvt. Isham Boren also in the 16 Texas Cavalry, was killed and buried at the battle site. Alexander re-enlisted in 1863 at the age of 18-years old as a Private on his own free-will and NOT due to desertion as has been erroneously reported and was re-assigned to the 16th Texas Cavalry, Company I, under Col. William Fitzhugh. The unit came to be known as the "Brush Battalion" due to it being comprised of volunteer Militia, and a few conscripts and deserters. [NOTE: Alexander was one of the volunteers in the Texas Militia, not a conscript or a deserter.] Alexander went on to fight in numerous battles and survived the "War Between the States" when the 16th Texas Cavalry was disbanded in 1865 following the surrender of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee to Union Gen. U.S. Grant on April 9, 1865. He married Miriam Elizabeth Wilkinson upon his return from the War in May 1865, and the couple remained married for 72-years. They had 10-children (one died at age 4) and took in 3-more orphaned children, and raised them as their own. Alexander lost his left leg below the knee when he was shot in the left knee by his own relative Bill Boren during the post-Civil War "Lee-Peacock Feud" 1867-1869 between Yankee sympathizer Lewis Peacock & his followers, and former Confederate Capt. Bob Lee of the 9th Texas Cavalry and his supporters. Alexander wore a prosthetic lower leg after the left portion leg below the knee had to be amputated. He continued to ride horses & raise cattle. He died of Pneumonia at the age of 92-years old. His wife Miriam died of acute Asthma related Pneumonia and Gastroenteritis 5-months later. He is buried in "Ringgold Cemetery" in Montague County Texas. He never owed any man any money and was known "for his word was his bond".

Following their father James F. Boren's death in 1848, they were sent to live with their paternal grandfather William M. Boren (1787-1877; b. South Carolina) and his wife Julia Ann Dye (1791-1875; b. Kentucky) who were living in Collin County, Texas at the time. Their mother, Edith Ann "Eda", went on to re-marry Hugh McKenny Woody (1812-1907) from Tennessee.

Spouse: Miriam Elizabeth Wilkinson (1846-1937) was born in the Iowa Territory aka Indian controlled area and was a Cherokee Indian.
