Nelsie Arthur Camden, 82, of Bedford, died Thursday, March 30, 2000 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born February 28, 1918 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Luther Colon Arthur and Sarah Elizabeth Woodford Arthur.


She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Welcome Class.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Robert Camden, Jr., a son, H. Robert "Bobby" Camden, III, two brothers and two sisters.


She is survived by a daughter, Sara Ann Pentecost and her husband, Richard of Madison Heights; a sister, Annie Bell Meador and her husband, Beck of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Danny Ray Camden, Charles "Chuck" Sitton and his wife, Sue and JoAnne McCrickard; four great-grandchildren, George Thomas McCrickard, III, Christopher Dale McCrickard, Logan Lynn Sitton and Madison MacKenzie Sitton; and several nieces and nephews.


Memorial contributions may be made to either the Main Street United Methodist Church, 210 E. Main St., Bedford, Va. or Bedford Life Saving Crew, P. O. Box 161, Bedford, Va.


A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2000 at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. David T. Forrest and the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at Carder-Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Friday, March 31, 2000 from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
