Mrs. John LaBelle Dies After Illness
Mrs Minnie B. LaBelle, 75, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 5 pm Thursday at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. She was the widow of John LaBelle, for many years an engineer with the Milwaukee railroad.
She was born March 9, 1880 in Grant City, Mo., the daughter of Dallas E. and Eliza H.(Van Cleave) Scott. She moved to Ottumwa as a child, and had lived here until going to Cedar Rapids five years ago. She was married to John LaBelle, May 2, 1907. He was retired from the railroad when he died in 1952.
At the time of her death she was a member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She formerly belonged to the First Baptist church in Ottumwa. She was a member of the G.I.A. to the BLE, was past president of the Ottumwa P.T.A council, was a member of the Milwaukee Women's club, and had served on the board of directors for the Y,W.C.A. in Ottumwa.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs J.F. Anderson of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs Inez Toole of Ottumwa, and a grandaughter, Marcia Anderson of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death, besides her husband by three sisters.**
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 pm at the Johnson funeral chapel here. Dr. H. Hughes Dill, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist church in Cedar Rapids, will be in charge. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
