Eliza was the daughter of Hiram Wm Van Cleave and Mary Nancy Carter. Her mother died when she was 10 years old. They made trips to Texas, where other Van Cleave family members lived, fighting Indians along the way. Her brother Benjamin (the oldest born 1847 Indiana) had killed two Indians at the age of 8. He died at a young age.
A sister Katie Ann, born Feb 1, 1852 Iowa md Joseph S. McAllister March 31, 1869 in McLennan, Tx. They later moved to Oklahoma. Divorced abt 1900. They had 8 children. Katie died Feb 8, 1944, Ardmore, Oklahoma buried at Rose Hill Cemetery. Fag # 21597187
Twin sisters, Tabitha and Talitha born Sept 26, 1854 Iowa They married the Wellman brothrs (Winfield Scott and Wm Henry Wellman)Tabitha died Oct 27, 1927 and buried at Wellman Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa. (FAG # 40749578) Talitha can not be found. Talitha's husband is buried in Ft Pierce Cemetery, Florida, Nov 25, 1937 and death certificated listed him as a widow.
The youngest, Cyrus Perry, was never mentioned by family members, other than Eliza was incharge of all the kids, plus a young infant on their trip to Texas. Several years are given for his birth and location but found a Sept 16, 1857 in Texas and wonder if it should be Iowa. He died in 1911 in Buena Vista, Iowa
Eliza Married Dallas E. Scott June 28, 1868. They had 5 daughters with one who died at birth or shortly after and buried in Blakesburg Cemetery, Wapello Co., Iowa.
