DAVID CRISTOPHER ALLEN – CLASS of 1931

Technical Sergeant, David C. Allen was born on October 20, 1913, the son of Guy Lenton Allen and Frances Ethelda Braddock. David lived at 1005 Kessler Pkwy while he attended Sunset High School during his senior year, having transferred from Oak Cliff (Adamson) High School.

David enlisted in the army on October 8, 1942. He served in the European Theater of Operations in the 852nd Bomb Squadron, 491st Bomb Group. On January 5, 1945 David and other crewmen were killed during squadron assembly for a mission when their aircraft “Rage in Heaven”, a B-24J, #44-40165, exploded, then crashed and burned near Swaffham, England.

TSgt Allen received the Air Medal with a three Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Citation, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Service Ribbon with one Silver Star and Certificate of Valor. TSgt Allen’s final resting place is at the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge England in Plot D, Row #3, Grave #80.
