William W. Alexander was born May 2, 1863, in Missouri, son of Jonathan Washington Alexander (1828-1920) and Emily F. Ward (1840-1913). In 1880, William, age 17, was living in Prairie, Missouri (Franklin County) with his father, a farmer, age 51, born in Missouri, and his mother, age 40, born in Kentucky, and seven siblings: Charles W., age 21; Martin, age 19; Louisa, age 14; Emma J., age 12; Senora, age 9; Ulysses, age 9; and Cora, age 5; all born in Missouri.

In 1899, William married Ruth Bull, born April 7, 1882 in Texas, and was 16 years his junior.

In 1900, William, age 37, a farmer, born May 1863; and his wife, Ruth, age 18, born April 1882 in Texas, were living in Township 2, Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation). Living with them was William's brother, Charles W., age 41, born January 1859; and a boarder, Charlie Eggerman, age 19, born May 1881 in Missouri.

In 1910, William, age 46, a farmer, and Ruth, age 28, were living in Canadian, Oklahoma (Cleveland County), with their six children: Cora E., age 9; Theodore R., age 8; William B., age 6; Vera M., age 4; Robert M., age 2; and Elsie L., age 3 months; all born in Oklahoma.

In 1920, William, age 55, a farmer, and Ruth, age 37, were still living in Canadian, Oklahoma (Cleveland County), with the following children: Theodore, age 18; William, age 16; Vera M., age 14; Rob, age 12; Elise L, age 10; and Allie, age 4; all born in Oklahoma.

In 1930, William, a farmer, age 66, and Ruth, age 47, were living in Spring Creek, Oklahoma (Logan County), with their youngest daughter, Allie B., age 14. Also living with them was William's brother, Charles W., a widower, age 71.

William died November 19, 1936, and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery, in Lexington, Oklahoma (Canadian County). Ruth lived almost 40 more years and died June 3, 1976 and was buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma (Cleveland County).
